For academic conferences, business training seminars or industry specialist talks, video allows you inform, communicate and educate your viewers long after - and far from - the original event. In business and industry, this kind of archive can be a real asset for staff and clients. In academia, where 'impact' is a major concern it is a demonstrable means to reach stakeholders and policymakers.
Client Case Study
Trade body UK Music wanted a record of their one day careers and education seminar, which featured contributions from senior political and music industry figures. These included Fiona Hyslop MSP and Cabinet Secretary; Geoff Ellis of DF Concerts and producer Paul Savage of Chemikal Underground Studios.
The full day's event was filmed with a three camera system and selected short excerpts edited to give a flavour of the subjects covered. The full event audio was retained for podcast and archive use.
Key Processes
There were several major challenge to overcome for this video. First, balancing the low lighting in the venue with the high brightness of the projector screen. Second, due to venue access limitations the three camera system had to be moved into the hall, set up and ready to record in little more than 30 minutes. This included liaising with the in-house tech team to arrange audio feeds from lectern and wireless microphones.
